Waterbury police arrested five people including a bar owner and seized more than 100 bottles of liquor and $704 in cash during an early morning investigation at a Waterbury bar, they said.
Officers patrolling the area around East Main and Cherry Street at approximately 3:20 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, noticed loud music and illegally parked cars outside Prestige Bar and Restaurant on East Main Street, raising concerns that it was operating beyond permitted hours, according to a news release from the department, police said.

Convicted Felon Busted In Waterbury Bank Robbery Wanted For Seattle Heist: Police
A convicted felon with a history of robbery charges is back behind bars after allegedly robbing a Connecticut Wells Fargo bank, authorities said.
Thomas Hopkins, 57, of Waterbury, was arrested and charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree threatening, and second-degree larceny, police said on Monday, Nov. 18.
Hopkins is accused of robbing the Wells Fargo at 800 Wolcott St. in Waterbury around 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 15, police said. He walked in and told employees he had a gun and demanded cash; however, he never showed the weapon.

22-Year-Old Killed, 32-Year-Old Man In Critical Condition Following Crash
A 22-year-old Connecticut man was killed and another was hospitalized after a late-night crash in New Haven County, authorities said.
Jayden Gonzalez, of Waterbury, was killed after his car collided with another at the intersection of Baldwin and Lounsbury Streets around 2:15 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10, authorities said.
Paramedics rushed them both to an area hospital, where Gonzalez died of his wounds. The 32-year-old unnamed Waterbury man, who was in the other car, remains in critical but stable condition, police said.

Wrong-Way Driver Killed In Route 8 Head-On Collision
A 30-year-old Connecticut man was killed early Sunday morning, Oct. 20, after driving the wrong way on a highway and crashing into an oncoming car in New Haven County, authorities said.
Aron Tyrell Vann, of Waterbury in New Haven County, drove south in the northbound lanes along Route 8 in Waterbury when his Nissan Altima collided with a Jeep Cherokee just after 3 a.m., Connecticut State Police said.
Paramedics rushed Vann to Waterbury Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

Woman Who Fatally Hit Cyclist Then Sped Away Arrested: Police
A woman who police say crashed into a bicyclist, causing him fatal injuries, and sped away in New Haven County has been arrested weeks later.
Gloria Sanchez, 32, of Waterbury, was charged Thursday with evading responsibility in a death, criminal misrepresentation, and failure to renew registration, authorities said.
Investigators said Sanchez crashed into 37-year-old Luis Caceras, of Waterbury, around 6 a.m. at the Cooke Street and Grove Street intersection and then drove away.

Police say a Connecticut man kidnapped a child younger than 13 from a New Haven playground and sexually assaulted her in his truck.
Michael Dewitt, age 45, of Seymour, faces multiple felonies from the alleged incident and is being held on a $1.25 million bond, Waterbury Police said.
The girl told police that she was playing at Fulton Park on Wednesday, Oct. 9, around 7 p.m. when a man, later identified as Dewitt, lured her into his truck, where he sexually assaulted her, authorities said. The girl fought her way free and ran to get help.

A 14-year-old who was hit by a car last week in Connecticut has been released from the hospital as he continues to heal from his injuries, authorities said.
A car crashed into the teen in Waterbury on Friday, Sept. 27, just before 7:15 p.m. on Watertown Avenue. Police said they were hit while walking in the roadway, but it's unclear if they were in a crosswalk.

Greenwich Ferrari Heist: Teen, Man Accused Of Stealing Multiple Luxury Cars
A Connecticut teen and 22-year-old man with long criminal histories are accused of stealing a $575,000 Ferrari from Greenwich and later an Acura from New York, authorities said. It's not the first time they've been linked to a stolen luxury vehicle.
