225-Year-Old Historic CT Home Destroyed In Fire: 'A Work Of Art Is Gone' A historic Connecticut home built in 1800 went up in flames Sunday morning, Feb. 23, killing several cats and displacing a family, authorities said.  Firefighters were called to the 6,000-square-foot 139 Hartford Road home in Manchester just before 1 a.m. Crews from multiple companies battled the blaze for 40 minutes before getting the flames under control, Manchester authorities said.  No one was injured, but the home was left uninhabitable. CT Firefighters Rescue Dog From Burning Home Firefighters in Hartford County rescued a dog from a burning home on Tuesday, Jan. 14, saving the pooch before flames consumed the property. Crews were called to a home at 69 Fleming Road in Manchester just before 2:30 p.m. They arrived to find smoke billowing from the roofline. The family escaped mostly unharmed. Paramedics examined one person for smoke inhalation at the scene, but they did not need to be hospitalized.
