A historic Connecticut home built in 1800 went up in flames Sunday morning, Feb. 23, killing several cats and displacing a family, authorities said. Firefighters were called to the 6,000-square-foot 139 Hartford Road home in Manchester just before 1 a.m. Crews from multiple companies battled the blaze for 40 minutes before getting the flames under control, Manchester authorities said. CT Firefighters Rescue Dog From Burning Home
Firefighters in Hartford County rescued a dog from a burning home on Tuesday, Jan. 14, saving the pooch before flames consumed the property. Crews were called to a home at 69 Fleming Road in Manchester just before 2:30 p.m. They arrived to find smoke billowing from the roofline. The family escaped mostly unharmed. Paramedics examined one person for smoke inhalation at the scene, but they did not need to be hospitalized. Firefighters battled inside and rescued the dog, returning it to its owners unharmed. Firefighter Hurt, Family Left Homeless After CT Blaze
Connecticut fire investigators are looking into what sparked a house fire that left a family of five homeless and a firefighter injured. The blaze began in Fairfield County around 8:20 p.m. at a house in the 40 block of Alpine Street in Bridgeport, authorities said.
