21-Year-Old Tries To Enter Newtown Home After Crash In Vehicle Stolen In Danbury, Police Say A 21-year-old Fairfield County man is behind bars after allegedly fleeing from a traffic stop in a stolen vehicle and trying to break into a home to get away. Danbury resident Joao Gabriel Almeida-Bastos was nabbed around 11:30 a.m., Sunday, July 7, on Toddy Hill Road in Newtown. According to Lt. Scott Smith of the Newtown Police, during a routine traffic stop, Almeida-Bastos made a U-turn and accelerated northbound as the officer exited his cruiser.
