Yale Students Get in 'Formation' for Beyoncé 101: Report
Blue Ivy's mom is going Ivy League. Yale University will teach a class on Beyoncé and her cultural impact beginning next semester, a report said.
The class, which is called “Beyoncé Makes History: Black Radical Tradition, History, Culture, Theory & Politics through Music,” will focus on using the "Single Ladies" singer's work as a lens to study Black history, performance, and intellectual thought, according to Yale Daily News, an independent student newspaper.
Professor Daphne Brooks will lead the class.

Ali Truwit will return home to Connecticut to a hero's welcome after winning two silver medals in swimming at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris.
Truwit, 24, who broke the American records in the 100-meter backstroke and 400-meter freestyle, on her way to the podium, will return home to Darien on Monday, Sept. 23, to a ceremony at Grove Street Plaza at 4 p.m., the town announced.
Darien First Selectman Jon Zagrodzky will be on hand to proclaim Sept. 23, 2024, as "Ali Truwit Day."

Alisyn Camerota, A CNN anchor from Fairfield County, CT and with New Jersey roots is mourning the loss of her husband, she announced in a heartbreaking post on social media.
Camerota, who was born in Shrewsbury, NJ said on Friday, Sept. 20 on Instagram that her husband, Tim Lewis, died on July 27, 2024 — two years after being diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer.
Lewis' obituary on the Harding Funeral Home website says that he and Camerota live in Westport, CT.

Yale University and a professor who teaches there have agreed to pay over $1.5 million to the federal Department of Veterans Affairs after failing to share patent royalties for inventions, officials said.

A longtime lawmaker in Connecticut has checked off a new milestone.
Vanessa Roberts Avery, age 47, of West Hartford, has been sworn in as the US Attorney for the District of Connecticut, making her the first Black woman to fill that position.

A $10,000 reward is being offered for information that helps police find a Yale University employee who has been missing for about two months.
Anton Sovetov, a 44-year-old graphic designer in the Yale Office of Public Affairs & Communications, was last in touch with colleagues on Friday, Feb. 4, the university said.

Former Yale Med School Employee Admits Stealing, Selling $40 Million In Electronics
A former Yale University School of Medicine employee has admitted to stealing $40 million in computer and electronic hardware from the university.
Jamie Petrone, age 42, pleaded guilty on Monday, March 28, to wire fraud and filing a false tax return, according to Leonard Boyle, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut.
Petrone is a former resident of Naugatuck in New Haven County, and she currently resides in Georgia, Boyle said.
