The first half of the weekend will be marked by rainy, dreary conditions before a big change in the weather pattern. Precipitation will linger throughout the day and into the evening on Saturday, May 20, marking an end to a long stretch of dry days. The rain, which will be heavy at times, will be accompanied by areas of fog Saturday afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service. The high temperature will be in the low 60s. A brand-new round of potentially severe, scattered thunderstorms is expected to sweep through the region amid a stretch of oppressive heat. The latest projected time frame for the system is from around midday until around 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 21, according to the National Weather Service. The arrival of a warm front will be accompanied by scattered thunderstorms that will bring locally heavy rain, gusty winds, small hail, according to the National Weather Service. The time frame for storm activity on Sunday, June 12 is from the mid-afternoon into the evening.
