The 5-year-old boy who fell into the Connecticut River in Middlesex County last week while kayaking has died, authorities said. Jaxon Podbielski, of Higganum, was kayaking with an adult and fell into the water around 3:15 p.m. on Saturday, Oct 26, the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection said. 5-Year-Old Boy Remains In Critical Condition After Near Drowning In Haddam
A 5-year-old boy who was pulled from the Connecticut River in Middlesex County this weekend remained in critical condition a day later, authorities said. Police were called to a stretch of the river near Landing Road in Haddam on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 26, when the boy and a man fell from a kayak into the water, the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection said. A 27-year-old Connecticut man died after failing to negotiate a right curve and striking a metal guardrail on Route 148. The crash occurred in Middlesex County just before 1:20 a.m., Thursday, June 20, near the Cedar Lake Road intersection in Chester. State Police are seeking witnesses to a fatal wrong-way driver crash that killed two Connecticut women and seriously injured a man.
