Beloved Bridgeport Fire Marshal Dies Suddenly A much beloved Fairfield County fire marshal has died suddenly, just a year before he planned to retire. The Bridgeport Police Department has reported that overall crime statistics throughout Connecticut's most-populated city have been on a decline in comparison to this time last year.  The most notable statistical decrease can be found in shooting incidents throughout Bridgeport, said Mayor Joe Ganim. Fairfield County City Says Goodbye To Historic Bridge Soon one of Fairfield County's most recognizable bridges will be gone when it's demolished for safety reasons. The historic Pleasure Beach Bridge located in Bridgeport which once connected the city’s East Side of Bridgeport to the small island will be getting demolished within the next few weeks, city officials said.
