A man lying horizontally was found burning after police in Fairfield County responded to a call for a possible fire near a popular park. The incident took place in New Canaan around 8:45 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 10 in the area of Lapham Road near Waveny Park. A fire broke out on top of an elevator at the Stamford Town Center. Firefighters responded to the shopping mall in downtown Stamford at about 8:10 p.m. on Tuesday, July 26, according to the Stamford Fire Department. The first companies that arrived at the scene found a small fire on top of an elevator near the mall's entrance on Tresser Boulevard, authorities reported. Nine residents and a pet were evacuated from a Fairfield County housing complex due to an apartment fire. The blaze broke out in Norwalk around 11:50 p.m., on Wednesday, July 6. Firefighters responded to a residential apartment fire at 261 Ely Ave., at the Roodner Court Housing complex, said Deputy Chief Michael McCallum. Gramma's Comfort Foods, located in Tolland County, has closed as of Monday, June 20, the owners announced in a Facebook post. The restaurant was located at 452 Stafford Road in Mansfield Center.
