These CT Eateries Named Best Restaurants For Wine, New Rankings Say
Several Connecticut restaurants are the cream of the crop when it comes to their wine offerings, according to new rankings released by Wine Spectator.
A total of 36 eateries were recognized as winners of the 2024 Restaurant Awards released by Wine Spectator, a publication that serves as a leading authority on wine.
The restaurants named as winners of the awards, which were made public on Tuesday, June 25, are (by county):

Fatal Crash: 44-Year-Old ID'd As Victim On I-84
One person was killed in an overnight crash on a stretch of I-84 in Connecticut.
It happened just before 1:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20 in New Haven County on the eastbound side near Exit 26 in the town of Cheshire when it was rear-ended by a 2021 Hyundai Accent SE, Connecticut State Police said.
Hartford County resident Lawrence Soucy, age 44, of New Britain, the driver of the Hyundai, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

The suspect in a November 2022 five-car fatal Connecticut crash has been apprehended, police announced.
New Haven County resident Walter Spencer, aged 64, of Waterbury, was arrested on Wednesday, June 14 on 10 charges in relation to the 2022 crash in Cheshire which Connecticut State Police claim he caused.
At the time of the incident, which occurred on November 19, 2022, at approximately 4 p.m., Spencer was driving northbound with friend Arthur Wright on Highland Avenue, or Route 10.

A powerful storm packed with damaging winds has knocked out power to more than 100,000 across Connecticut.
As of around 7:45 a.m. Friday, Dec. 23, Eversource is reporting 97,652, with United Illuminating reporting another 3,447.

Hartford County resident Christopher Borkowski, of Southington, won the "$500,000 Extravaganza! Second Edition" prize from a ticket purchased at RK Liquor Store, located at 64 South Center St. in Southington, Connecticut Lottery announced on Tuesday, Oct. 18.

A Connecticut woman was charged with animal cruelty in the death of her dog after authorities said she left the animal inside of a hot car for hours.
Suzy Rivers, age 37, turned herself in to police on Tuesday, July 26, for the charge related to an incident that happened in Hartford County outside of the Southington Library, according to the Southington Police Department.

A strong storm with damaging wind gusts has left thousands without power in Connecticut.
At around 5:15 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, about 12,500 outages were reported statewide.

CT Investment Advisor Sentenced For Stealing More Than $600K From Client
A Connecticut man has been sentenced for stealing more than $600,000 from an investment client.
New Haven County resident Matthew Clason, age 40, of Cheshire, was sentenced on Tuesday, Dec. 7, to 30 months in prison followed by two years of supervised release for one count of wire fraud, according to an announcement from Leonard Boyle, acting United States attorney for the District of Connecticut.
Clason pleaded guilty to the charge on May 12, Boyle said.
