The drop in temperatures was triggered by the passage of a cold front that swept through the region at the start of the workweek.
It's also led to wind gusts that could be 25 miles per hour or higher at times.
As a result, morning lows in the upper 30s and low 40s on Tuesday, Oct. 15 felt more like November weather.
"This setup is something that we see in late autumn, so it is an early taste of it," said AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Tyler Roys.
High temperatures Tuesday, Wednesday, Oct. 16, and Thursday, Oct. 17 will only be in the mid-50s with mostly sunny skies each day.
There will be a shift in temperatures starting on Friday, Oct. 18, with the high climbing into the low to mid 60s with sunny skies.
Saturday, Oct. 19 will be springlike with some areas seeing the mercury hit 70 degrees amid plenty of sunshine.
