The incident took place in Middlesex County around 9 a.m., Monday, Dec. 5 in Middlefield.
According to Connecticut State Police, troopers responded to a disturbance report.
Once on the scene, troopers found that an employee of a business had allegedly struck another employee with a motor vehicle in the parking lot in an "intentional and reckless manner," state police said.
The employee struck by the vehicle sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment.
The injured employee told troopers that they had been struck while attempting to prevent an employee who had resigned from their position from taking a company vehicle, state police said.
According to the injured employee, the employee who had resigned, identified as Jeremy Jordan, age 41, of Norwalk, had been offered alternate transportation prior to driving away from the area in the company vehicle.
After conducting a thorough investigation, troopers developed probable cause to arrest Jordan. Jordan was contacted by phone and agreed to meet with troopers at a location in New Canaan.
Jordan arrived at the prearranged location in the company vehicle, was taken into custody, and charged with the following:
- Assault
- Reckless endangerment
- Use of motor vehicle without permission
- Disorderly conduct
Jordan was later released on a $10,000 surety bond and is scheduled for arraignment at Middletown Superior Court on Thursday, Dec. 22.
