Fire, Explosion Destroys 125-Year-Old Historic CT Golf Club A late-night fire that caused an explosion at a Connecticut golf course in Fairfield County is under investigation, authorities said.  The fire was reported late Friday night, Nov. 15, at  Highland Golf Club in Shelton, the fire department there said.  The call came in around 11:30 p.m. and firefighters could see a "large orange glow" from a far distance as they made their way to the 261 Wooster St. 125-year-old golf course.  Several propane tanks were boiling when firefighters arrived, and despite efforts to cool them down, one exploded and sent shrapnel flying hu…

At around 7;15 a.m. Thursday, June 27, a total of around 48,000 customers in Connecticut are without electricity, according to poweroutage.us. Most of the outages are in Hartford and Litchfield counties, with a combined 33,808.
