'Rarely Without A Smile': Navy Sailor Killed In Groton Crash Remembered For His Faith, Kindness A 21-year-old man who was killed while riding his motorcycle in New London County last week is being remembered for the bright future he lost and the love he shared with his friends and family.  Elijah W. Hummel, of Groton, was found seriously wounded on Friday, Nov. 8, after losing control of his motorcycle and crashing into an unoccupied, parked car in front of Midway Pizza, police said.  He later died of his injuries at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital. 21-Year-Old ID'd As Victim Of Fatal Groton Motorcycle Crash A 21-year-old Connecticut man was killed in the early morning hours of Friday, Nov. 8, in New London County after he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed, authorities said.  Elijah W. Hummel, of Groton, was found seriously wounded near 33 Fort Hill Road, between Depot Road and South Road, authorities said.  Paramedics rushed him to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, where he died of his injuries.  The initial investigation revealed that Hummel had been riding a 2024 Kawasaki ZX-400 westbound on Fort Hill Road at a high rate of speed, police said.
