Man Busted On Child Porn Charges After Multi-State Investigation: Police
A 27-year-old Connecticut man faces multiple charges after police say he tried to entice a child online, authorities said. Michael Bernaud, age 27, of Ansonia, was charged with possession of child pornography, two counts of enticing a minor by computer, and two counts of risk of injury to a minor, Ansonia police said. He was being held on a $150,000 bond. Authorities said Bernaud turned himself in after police obtained a warrant for his arrest following a lengthy investigation. A police department in Connecticut is leading an effort to lend help to one of its members who is fighting the health battle of his life following a brain tumor removal. Detective 1st Grade Mike Rooney, a member of the Greenwich Police Department, is currently in a coma following his surgery at Yale New Haven Hospital to have a tumor removed from his brain, according to Greenwich Police Silver Shield Association President Peter Schmitt. Police Respond To Threat At Danbury Fair Mall
Police responded to a threat involving a popular mall in Connecticut. It happened late Sunday afternoon, Oct. 6 in Fairfield County at the Danbury Fair Mall. Danbury Police say officers responded to a report of a possible incident at the mall at around 4:30 p.m. The officers quickly determined that the threat was not credible and there was no danger to the public, according to police. "This incident remains under investigation as a swatting call," according to Danbury Police. The mall reopened for business as usual.

An initial investigation has determined the cause of a crash that claimed the life of a well-known pilot at an air show in New York. Just before 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5 in Dutchess County, a World War I-era replica Fokker D.VIII caught fire, causing the plane to crash near the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome during an exhibition in Red Hook. Disney+, the streaming video platform that boasts more than 150 million users, is raising the price of its monthly subscriptions beginning Thursday, Oct. 17, the company said. A highly contagious COVID-19 variant known as KP.3.1.1 now accounts for nearly 60 percent of infections in the United States. For the first time, a tick-borne illness normally found hundreds of miles away was detected in a person in Connecticut, causing concerns that the insect that spreads it has begun to thrive in new locations.
