A Connecticut community is rallying to protect a grieving mother after her teenage son was shot and killed while standing nearby when gunfire broke out in downtown Hartford last month. Camden Siegal, 17, of West Hartford, was waiting for a rideshare with friends near PeoplesBank Arena when gunfire erupted around 1:50 a.m. Feb. 22, police said. A 20-year-old Connecticut man has been charged with killing his teenage friend after losing control of his car at speeds over 100 mph during a police chase that ended in a crash into an embankment earlier this year, authorities said. Michael Cream, of Norwich, is charged with second-degree manslaughter, engaging in a police pursuit, reckless driving, and other traffic infractions, according to Connecticut State Police. A 41-year-old Connecticut woman has been arrested and charged in connection with a 2023 hit-and-run that killed a University of New Haven graduate student who was months away from graduating, authorities announced this week. Jill Augelli, of Naugatuck, was arrested on Nov. 18, following a year-long investigation into the fatal crash at the intersection of Whalley Avenue and Amity Road in West Haven that killed 23-year-old Priyanshu Agwal, police said. Police in Connecticut said a 30-year-old man who crashed into two scooter riders — killing one of them — was intoxicated at the time of the wreck last month. Francha J. Francis was arrested last week and charged with manslaughter with a vehicle in the second degree, operating under the influence, driving with a suspended license, and operating without a license, New London Police said on Monday, Nov. 11.
