Demond Wilson Dies: Starred In Iconic Sitcom 'Sanford And Son' Grady Demond Wilson, the actor celebrated for his role as Lamont Sanford on the groundbreaking NBC-TV 1970s sitcom "Sanford and Son," has died. Wilson's death at his home in Palm Springs, California, on Friday, Jan. 30, at the age of 79, was due to complications related to cancer, first reported by TMZ and confirmed by his son, Demond Wilson Jr.  Born in Valdosta, Georgia, on Oct. 13, 1946, Wilson grew up in New York City, where he studied tap dance and ballet. Ex-NY Rep. Charles Rangel, Who Spent 4 Decades In Congress, Dies Former Congressman Charles "Charlie" Rangel, who represented five districts in New York City over 46 years, has died. He was 94.
