A Connecticut bank robbery suspect is dead, and his father remains hospitalized after an hours-long standoff with police at a Groton motel ended in gunfire, authorities said.
The chaos began just after 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 12, when Groton police received a report of a robbery at the Chelsea Groton Bank on Gold Star Highway. Two masked men passed a note to a teller demanding money and implied they had a weapon, authorities said.
After receiving cash, the men ran out of the bank and sped away in a vehicle, Groton police said.

A Hartford woman was arrested this week on a three-year-old warrant after telling police that a stranger paid her $100 to drive around Connecticut robbing banks, authorities said.
Sarah Stuart, 24, was taken into custody on Wednesday, March 30, and charged with theft, conspiracy to commit robbery, and two counts of robbery, according to Connecticut State Police.

A bank robbery suspect didn’t make it far with his ill-gotten gains after police quickly arrested him and seized the cash and weapon used in the robbery, authorities said.
Santinho Samacau, 20, of Norwich, faces numerous charges, including robbery in the first degree, larceny in the second degree, and reckless endangerment in the first degree, police said.
Samacau is accused of robbing Centerville Bank on High Street in Norwich around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15. Authorities said he entered the bank with a pistol and demanded cash.

Stamford Man Admits To Bank Robbery Spree In Fairfield County
A man is facing years in prison after pleading guilty to three bank robberies in Connecticut.
Francesco Pensiero, "Frank," age 51, of Stamford, admitted the 2020 robberies on Tuesday, June 4, according to Vanessa Roberts Avery, US Attorney for the District of Connecticut.
According to court documents and statements made in court, on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2020, Pensiero and an associate robbed the Chase Bank located at 2855 Main St., in Stratford.
