Body Of 14-Year-Old Found At Western Mass Pond; Presumed Drowned Police are investigating after a 14-year-old was found unresponsive at Benedict Pond in Berkshire County, authorities said.  Great Barrington police were called to the Beartown State Forest recreation area just before 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17, after the child was found unresponsive in the water, officials said. Police and witnesses pulled the child from the water and began CPR immediately.  Responders rushed the teen to Fairview Hospital, but doctors were unable to save their life.  The child's name was not released.  Police are investigating the circumst…

CT Man Struck By Lightning As Severe Storms Roared Through Region A 34-year-old Connecticut man was struck by lightning as several severe thunderstorms ripped through the area. The incident occurred in New London County around 6:15 p.m., Wednesday, July 17, on Orchard Farms Road in Colchester. According to Colchester Fire Chief Steve Hoffmann, crews responded to the home and found the man "conscious and alert" but suffering from chest pains. The New London County incident occurred on Friday, July 12 in the town of Old Lyme, Connecticut State Police said. Just before 1 a.m., the teen was driving north on Route 1, or Boston Post Road, in a Honda HR-V LX. Near the intersection of Boggy Hole Road, the teen lost control of the SUV, veered onto the left side of the roadway, and hit a parked car sitting in a nearby driveway, according to police.
