Two Teenagers Injured From Separate Shootings In Central Mass, Police Say Two teenagers were hospitalized in two separate shootings that happened over the weekend in Worcester, authorities said. First, a 15-year-old boy was shot on Vernon Street around 6:45 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, Worcester Police said. He was taken to a local hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening. Then, 17-year-old boy was shot in the area of Orne Street after police responded to a ShotSpotter activation just before 10 p.m. on Sunday, June 12, police added. Luis Ortiz, from Worcester, Massachusetts and Putnam, Connecticut, was arrested on Thursday, Feb. 17, at a home in Worcester following an investigation. Police said Ortiz was charged with gun and narcotics offenses, including the illegal sale of firearms, ammunition, and fentanyl.  The investigation into Ortiz's activities began in January after troopers received information that he was illegally in possession of firearms, authorities said. On Wednesday, Nov. 4, Milton Javier Cardona-Guevara, 34, was charged with one count of illegal re-entry into the United States after deportation, according to the U .S. Attorney’s Office, Massachusetts. Cardona-Guevara’s deportations go back all the way to August 2006 when he first entered the U.S. illegally, according to court documents. Last September, 217 vehicles were reportedly broken into in Worcester, police said. In the previous year, September 2019, there had been 73 fewer car break-ins, police said, with 144 thefts reported.
