Officer Severely Bitten By Woman During Arrest In Western Mass, Police Say A Western Massachusetts police officer was seriously injured after being bitten by a woman while off-duty. The incident took place in Hamden County around 2:30 p.m., Friday, April 22, in Ludlow. Man Charged With Assault, Battery Of Police In Hampden County A Western Massachusetts man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting several police officers as they attempted to arrest him. Hampden County resident Norman Lafond, age 44, of Springfield, was arrested around 1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14 after Ludlow Police received calls of a suspicious male. According to Ludlow Police, callers told officers that Lafond was allegedly falling all over the road and into snowbanks. Arrest Made Following Deadly Western Mass Crash Police arrested a man for vehicular homicide in connection to a motor two-car crash that killed one person in Massachusetts.  Hampden County resident Javier Morales, age 34, was arrested on Thursday, Aug. 26 by the Ludlow Police in connection with a crash that took place on Sunday, Aug. 22. According to Chief Daniel Valadas, of the Ludlow Police, officers were called to the serious multi-vehicle crash on 177 Chapin Street in Ludlow with injuries.  Victims involved in the crash were taken to Baystate Medical Center for treatment. Passenger Killed In Western Mass Crash One person was killed during a two-vehicle crash in Western Massachusetts. The crash took place around 7 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 22, in Hampden County, at 177 Chapin Street in Ludlow, said Ludlow Police Chief Daniel Valadas. During the crash, which involved two Subarus, a passenger in one of the vehicles was trapped and had to be extracted using the jaws of life, police said. CT Stolen-Vehicle Suspect Caught While Pumping Gas, Police Say A Connecticut man was arrested for allegedly stealing a vehicle while he was pumping gas in Massachusetts. Hartford County resident Yves Sorokobi, age 50, of Manchester, was arrested around 4 p.m., Saturday, April 3, in Hampden County after Ludlow Police received a 911 call for a report of a motor vehicle that had just been stolen, Ludlow Police said.
