Longtime Local Police Officer In CT Killed In Crash Just Days After Retiring
A 24-year veteran of a local Connecticut police department was killed in a crash just two days after he retired. Hamden Police Officer Michael Pantera died in the crash in North Branford on Tuesday, Aug. 2, the Hamden Police Department announced. He retired on Sunday, July 31, the police department said. Two Connecticut towns will be ditching the mask mandate as the state continues to see improved COVID-19 numbers. In New Haven County, Hamden Mayor Lauren Garrett announced that the emergency mask mandate will no longer be in effect as of Friday, Feb. 25 after saying that she consulted with health experts and professionals. A new Connecticut town has reinstated its indoor mask mandate after a resident tested positive for the COVID-19 variant, Omicron. Hamden Mayor Lauren Garrett signed an executive order to reinstate the indoor mask mandate effective Saturday, Dec. 11, town officials said.
