Quick-Thinking Fire Chief Uses Fork-Lift To Save Fairfield County Business From Fire A quick-thinking off-duty assistant fire chief saved a fire from happening in the loading dock of a Fairfield County business when a fire started in the engine of a pickup truck. The incident began around 7:46 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 27, when a 911 call was received by the Danbury Fire Department that a truck was on fire in the load dock area of Omaha Beef on Maple Avenue in Danbury, said James Gagliardo, communications director. Fire Heavily Damages Home, Displaces Residents In Fairfield County A Fairfield County home was heavily damaged during a fire overnight as snow continued to come down in the area that received more than 18 inches of snow.  The fire took place around 11:08 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 2, at 6 Sage Road, in the Lake Waubeeka area of Danbury, said James Gagliardo, communications director for the Danbury Fire Department.
