Ceiling Collapse Closes Section Of Stamford Train Station, 1 Injured
A portion of a suspended concrete ceiling over a stairway vestibule at the Stamford Train Station collapsed, sending riders scrambling to get out of the way. The incident took place around 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 31 on the Station Place side of the station (Tracks 4 and 2) and the stairway between the platform and the lower concourse tunnel, said Stamford Deputy Fire Chief John Pritchard. A report of an active shooter at a Fairfield County school led to the lockdown of all the city's schools. The incident took place in Stamford around 9 a.m., Friday, Oct. 13 at Stamford High School. According to Lauren Meyer, with the City of Stamford, Stamford High School received a false report notification of a threat of an active shooter in the building. Police Ask For Help In Investigation Of Fairfield County Hit-Run Crash
Police in Fairfield County are asking the public for help locating the person responsible for allegedly hitting and critically injuring a pedestrian before fleeing the scene. The pedestrian was hit around 11:23 p.m., Sunday, June 6 in the area of Wilson Street, just south of Grenhart Road in Stamford, said Sgt. Jeffrey Booth of the Stamford Police. The pedestrian, a 45-year-old Stamford resident was transported to Stamford Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Officials in Stamford are alerting residents about a potential spike in COVID-19 cases. The City of Stamford’s Department of Health said it was notified that a COVID-19 early warning wastewater system detected a potential increase in cases of COVID-19 in Stamford.
