Springfield Murder-Suicide: Community Rallies To Support Family Rocked By Tragedy A GoFundMe has been created to help pay for the funeral of a woman killed in a murder-suicide earlier this week and the medical bills of her two young granddaughters who were also shot. Man Killed After Car Crashes Into Tree In Western Mass, Police Say A man died after crashing his car into a tree in Western Massachusetts. The crash took place in Hampden County around 1;20 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 1 in Springfield in the 700 block of Berkshire Avenue. According to Ryan Walsh, a spokesman for the Springfield Police, officers who responded to the area found a single-car crash into a tree. The lone occupant, an adult male, was transported to Baystate Hospital where he died from his injuries, Walsh said. The department's Traffic Unit is investigating.

Two Charged After Large-Capacity Firearm Seized In Western Mass Two Western Mass men were arrested after police seized a large-capacity firearm during a traffic stop. Hampden County residents Jalen Ramos, age 21, of West Springfield, and Jomar Esteras, age 21, of Springfield were both arrested at about 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 7, according to the Springfield Police Department.  Investigators had been conducting an investigation with Ramos as the suspect for weeks, police said.  Officers located Ramos on Saturday and conducted a traffic stop he was riding in stopped at a gas station at the intersection of Bay Street and Berkshire Avenue.
