As news leaked about an in-labor dog left to die in a Connecticut parking lot, snuffing out her life and the lives of her six puppies, the reaction from the community has been overwhelming. The French bulldog mix was found on Dec. 19 at 8 Turtle Creek Lane in East Hartford. She was in active labor and struggling to breathe, and she died before emergency veterinarians could help her. Princess the beloved hairless cat stolen from a Fairfield County hotel room has been returned to its owner some four months after being taken. The theft took place in Shelton on Sunday, Jan. 22 at the Hilton Garden Inn on Old Stratford Road. During the burglary, Princess was taken along with some $8,5000 in goods including Gucci and Fendi handbags, Shelton Police said. The New York State Court of Appeals has determined that an elephant at the Bronx Zoo is not a "legal person," rejecting a nonprofit organization's argument that the animal is being unlawfully imprisoned. No More Shock Collars - National Pet Supply Chain Bans Sale
A national pet supplies store will no longer sell electronic “shock” collars noting the devices may cause fear and anxiety in animals. PetCo announced on Tuesday, Oct. 6, that it would stop selling shock collars at all of its 1,500 stores in the United States and Mexico, the company said.
