Following the third confirmed discovery of an Asian longhorned tick in Connecticut, researchers are warning of the potential health impacts that the invasive arachnids could bring to the state. 42 Cats Rescued From CT Home In 'Deplorable Condition'
Dozens of cats were rescued from a home during an operation that involved several agencies after the home's resident let animal control officials inside. The incident took place in New Haven County around 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 15, on Hawkins Street in Derby, according to Derby Mayor Richard Dziekan. Connecticut is in mourning after a family member at the Beardsley Zoo in Fairfield County had to be put down amid a health scare. On Friday, Feb. 25, a spokesperson for the Bridgeport zoo announced that Rochan, a 7-year-old male red panda died the previous week after suffering health complications. Mystic Aquarium is reporting that one of its beluga whales has fallen "extremely ill" weeks after the death of another whale at the aquarium. The Connecticut aquarium reported on Tuesday, Aug. 24, that testing revealed that the female whale has low white blood cell count and gastrointestinal issues.
