The arrest took place in Hartford on Thursday, Nov. 3 after officers of a statewide task force spotted a man allegedly participating in a drug transaction.
Moses Rodriguez, age 35, of Hartford was stopped after the suspected drug deal on Brainard Road, said the Connecticut state police.
A search of the vehicle led to the seizure of approximately 30 grams of "purple" fentanyl, $2,301 in cash, a fully loaded Glock 9mm pistol with a 15-round high-capacity magazine, as well as other items consistent with the packaging and sale of narcotics, state police said.
Rodriguez was taken into custody and charged with:
- Failure to display registration plates
- Illegal operation of a motor vehicle without tint inspection
- Possession with intent to sell hallucinogenic
- Operation of a drug factory
- Illegal possession of a weapon in a vehicle
- Violation of large capacity magazine requirement
- Criminal possession of a firearm/ammo/defense weapon
Rodriguez was released on a $500,000 cash/surety bond and is scheduled for arraignment at Hartford Superior Court on Thursday, Nov. 17.
