22-Year-Old In Critical Condition Following Waterbury Crash With Stone Wall A 22-year-old Connecticut man is in critical condition following an early-morning crash early Sunday, police said. Waterbury police responded to the scene near 342 Wolcott Street at approximately 4:12 a.m. after the driver lost control of his vehicle and struck a fence and a stone wall, authorities said. The impact left the vehicle mangled and the driver, who was alone in the car, with life-threatening injuries, according to Waterbury police. Thomas Hopkins, 57, of Waterbury, was arrested and charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree threatening, and second-degree larceny, police said on Monday, Nov. 18. Hopkins is accused of robbing the Wells Fargo at 800 Wolcott St. in Waterbury around 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 15, police said.
