Two Connecticut women were arrested this week after police seized more than 100 animals at their home in varying states of care and eight dead animals in their freezer, authorities said. Kristal Lis is charged with 119 counts of animal cruelty and Sandris Lis, both of Coventry, is facing 19 counts of the charge, Coventry Police said. A Connecticut woman is facing multiple charges after police found several sick dogs she had been paid to train stuck in crates with little food or water, which led to one of their deaths, authorities said. Greenwich Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Toni Jones announced the appointment of Lauren Bird as assistant principal at Cos Cob School in Greenwich, effective immediately. Head coach Dan Hurley of the two-time national champion University of Connecticut men's basketball team has hit the jackpot by signing a new $50 million, six-year contract with the program.
