Daniel Harold, of Haddam, faces charges of second-degree breach of peace and risk of injury to a minor following the disturbing Monday, Dec. 16, incidents, according to Connecticut State Police.

A Haddam resident called troopers just before 9:30 a.m. to report that their child was waiting at a school bus stop when a truck pulled up and a man got out.

Harold was captured on the family's surveillance camera screaming at the pre-teen that "suicide is the only way out" before leaving, state police said. The juvenile was shaken and visibly pale from the encounter.

Soon after, another person on the same street called troopers to report that they also had a confrontation with Harold that frightened them so much that they refused to leave their home.

They said a black Chevrolet truck stopped in the middle of the road in front of their home. A man got out, pointed directly at them, and made a throat-slashing gesture before getting back into the pickup truck and driving away, according to a police report.

Police said they were familiar with Harold and spoke to him about an hour after the second incident.

He told troopers that he made the comments because he believed they were stalking him, but he didn't know either victim, state police said.

Harold was released on a $20,000 bond, but police took him to an area hospital for evaluation after he left custody, according to the report.
