The 5.2 magnitude quake struck at 1:08 p.m. Eastern time Monday, April 14, with its epicenter in San Diego County, about 2.5 miles south of the town of Julian, according to the United States Geological Survey. 3.8 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Connecticut, Multiple Other States The US Geological Survey said a 3.8 magnitude earthquake shook much of the Northeast on Monday, Jan. 27. The quake occurred at 10:45 a.m. and was initially reported as a 4.1 on the Richter scale. Its epicenter was located near York Harbor, approximately seven miles off the coast of Maine and about 13 miles underground.
