Firefighter Hurt Battling Weekend Blaze In Simsbury A Connecticut firefighter was injured battling a weekend blaze in Hartford County, authorities said. ' The fire was reported at 730 Hopmeadow St. in Simbury on Saturday evening, Dec. 14. Officials didn't say when the blaze began.  Crews arrived to find the home engulfed in fire and flames licking through the first-floor windows. Major Brush Fire In NY Spreads Smoke Into CT A major brush fire over at least a dozen acres in the Hudson Valley produced smoke that spread across the New York border into Connecticut. The blaze broke out at around 12:05 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26 in Putnam County in the area of Route 301 and East Boyds Road in the town of Kent and was finally contained late in the day on Sunday, Oct. 27.
