New Update: Products Added To Recall Of 10M Pounds Of Meat, Poultry Due To Listeria Concerns New products have now been added for a nationwide recall of nearly 10 million pounds of meat and poultry products over fears they may be contaminated with Listeria. The US Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS)  announced that BrucePac is recalling approximately 9,986,245 pounds of ready-to-eat (RTE) products that may be adulterated with Listeria monocytogenes. CVS To Lay Off Nearly 3K Workers CVS announced it will lay off nearly 3,000 workers as part of a cost-cutting move aimed at saving $2 billion. These approximately 2,900 layoffs, primarily in corporate roles in the company's CVS Health division, represent less than 1 percent of the company's workforce, CVS said.  "The reductions will not impact front-line jobs in our stores, pharmacies and distribution centers,” a CVS spokesperson told CNN. Hartford Police Officer Accused Of 'Slapping' Prisoner In Face While In Hospital, Cops Say A Connecticut police officer was charged with breach of peace after he allegedly slapped a prisoner who was handcuffed to a hospital bed. Hartford Police Officer Marcello Confeiteiro was arrested on Wednesday, Aug. 28, and released on a promise to appear.  According to Lt. Aaron Boisvert, Confeiteiro was guarding a prisoner on Thursday, July 18, at an area hospital when the prisoner -- who at the time had one arm handcuffed to a hospital bed -- assaulted him by punching and spitting in his face.
