Elderly Woman Set Bloomfield Apartment Fire, Admits It During Rescue: Police
A 70-year-old Connecticut woman admitted to starting a fire at her apartment as firefighters were putting out the flames, authorities said.
Hartford County resident Maria Salas, 70, of Bloomfield, is charged with first-degree arson, and was being held on a $500,000 bond, Bloomfield Police said.
Firefighters were called to the apartments at 24 Dorothy Driver around 3 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20, to find it engulfed in flames.

Two people in Connecticut were killed in a single-vehicle crash on Friday night, Sept. 13, after their truck lost control, hit a guardrail, and burst into flames, authorities said.
Police in New Haven County were called to Exit 87 northbound on I-95 in Groton around 9:20 p.m., Connecticut State Police said.
A red Dodge Ram 1500 had gone off the left side of the exit ramp, struck a guardrail, and bounced into a tree, sparking a fire, police said. The driver and passenger were killed in the crash.

Deaths Of 2 CT Men Found In Burning Vehicle Ruled Homicides
Two deaths of two Connecticut men who were found in a burning car in May have been deemed homicides by the state Medical Examiner's Office.

The two men, David J. Rivera, age 36, and Carlos O. Calderon, age 39, both of Hartford, were found in New Haven County around 4:10 a.m., Thursday, May 30, on Roosevelt Drive in Oxford.

A man is facing years in prison after pleading guilty to three bank robberies in Connecticut.
Francesco Pensiero, "Frank," age 51, of Stamford, admitted the 2020 robberies on Tuesday, June 4, according to Vanessa Roberts Avery, US Attorney for the District of Connecticut.
According to court documents and statements made in court, on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2020, Pensiero and an associate robbed the Chase Bank located at 2855 Main St., in Stratford.
