Boater Dumped Fuel, Untreated Human Waste Into CT Harbor: Police
A 79-year-old Connecticut man admitted to police that he dumped diesel fuel and untreated human waste from his boat into Norwalk Harbor last week, authorities said.
Stanley Sikorski, of Norwalk in Fairfield County, was charged with discharging sewage in a no-discharge zone, misuse of a marine sanitation device, and littering in the water, police said on Tuesday, Oct. 15.
Norwalk Police were called to a reported diesel spill just before 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 11, at Manresa Island. Officers could see a sheen on the water and smell fuel in the air.

Sexual Blackmail: Man Threatened To Leak Woman's Nudes Unless She Slept With Him, Police Say
A Connecticut man blackmailed a woman into sex by threatening to send her nude photos to her family and coworkers if she didn't sleep with him, authorities said.
Jason Acosta-Williams, age 26, of Norwalk in Fairfield County, is charged with sexual assault in the first degree and coercion, police said.
Officials did not release much information on the arrest or investigation to protect the victim, but Norwalk Police issued a warrant for Acosta-Williams' arrest in August. However, he evaded arrest until Thursday, Oct. 10, when he surrendered himself to authorities.

Speeding, Weaving Motorist Nabbed For DUI On CT Roadway, Police Say
A Fairfield County man driving a 2024 Lexus NX 350 was nabbed for alleged DUI and other charges after he was spotted by police speeding and weaving.
John Tacconi, age 66, of Norwalk, was charged in Wilton on Tuesday, Aug. 20, on Danbury Road.
According to Wilton Police Deputy Chief Robert Cipolla, an officer clocked Tacconi traveling at 60 mph in a 40 mph zone on Danbury Road and weaving in and out of the double yellow line.
Tacconi admitted to the officer he had consumed alcohol before driving, and he had bloodshot eyes and was slurring his speech, Cipolla said.

LL Flooring Files For Bankruptcy, Plans To Close 4 CT Stores
With some 300 stores nationally, the mega-floor retailer LL Flooring has filed for bankruptcy and announced it plans to close at least 90 stores, including four in Connecticut.
According to a statement from LL Flooring, the stores being closed in Connecticut include Fairfield County in Norwalk and New Haven County in Milford, North Haven, and Waterbury.
The business said the three remaining stores in Danbury, Waterford, and Harford will remain open.

Norwalk Woman Driving On Wrong Side Of Road In New Canaan Charged With DUI, Police Say
A woman was nabbed for alleged DUI after police say she was found driving erratically on the wrong side of the road in Fairfield County.
The incident occurred in New Canaan on Tuesday, July 30, on Smith Ridge Road.
According to Lt. Mark DeFelice of the New Canaan Police, Rosa Maria Hernandez Depaniagua, age 52, of Norwalk, was arrested after police received a 911 call reporting an erratic driver.
When officers arrived, they found Hernandez Depaniagua driving on the wrong side of Smith Ridge Road and pulled her over, DeFelice said.

Weston 20-Year-Old Accused Of Stealing Wallet From Westport YMCA, Using Credit Cards
A Fairfield County man was charged with larceny after allegedly stealing a wallet from a gym and using the credit cards inside.
Massimo Zhong, 20, of Weston, was arrested on Monday, July 8, for the June incident at the Westport/Weston YMCA.
According to Lt. Eric Woods of the Westport Police, officers started an investigation after the theft was reported, and they found that the credit cards were used in Norwalk shortly after being stolen.
