John Festa, 86, of Northford, was driving south on New Haven Road in Durham around 1:15 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6, when a car traveling in the opposite direction crashed head-on with his Dodge Ram truck, Connecticut State Police said. Authorities said a third vehicle, also driving south, could not stop because of icy road conditions and collided with the passenger side of the second car. Boy, 5, Who Fell Into Connecticut River Has Died; ID'd As Higganum Resident The 5-year-old boy who fell into the Connecticut River in Middlesex County last week while kayaking has died, authorities said.  Jaxon Podbielski, of Higganum, was kayaking with an adult and fell into the water around 3:15 p.m. on Saturday, Oct 26, the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection said. It's unclear how long he remained in the water before his father pulled him out.  WTNH reported the child suffered pediatric cardiac arrest when he was pulled from the water. 5-Year-Old Boy Remains In Critical Condition After Near Drowning In Haddam A 5-year-old boy who was pulled from the Connecticut River in Middlesex County this weekend remained in critical condition a day later, authorities said.  Police were called to a stretch of the river near Landing Road in Haddam on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 26, when the boy and a man fell from a kayak into the water, the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection said.  Responders took the child to Middlesex Hospital, but doctors had the boy airlifted to Connecticut Children's Medical Center in Hartford in critical condition.  WTNH reported the child was …

27-Year-Old Killed In Single-Vehicle CT Crash A 27-year-old Connecticut man died after failing to negotiate a right curve and striking a metal guardrail on Route 148. The crash occurred in Middlesex County just before 1:20 a.m., Thursday, June 20, near the Cedar Lake Road intersection in Chester. According to the Connecticut State Police, Sean Francis Guiheen of Killingworth was heading west on Route 148 on a 2007 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide motorcycle when he failed to negotiate a right curve in the road and veered into the eastbound lane and struck a metal guardrail.
