CT US Marine, 68, ID'd As Victim Killed By Car While Walking On Highway
Authorities have identified the pedestrian killed while walking along Route 44 this weekend as 68-year-old Leo Blain of Putnam, Connecticut. Blain was struck by a Ford Fusion around 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23, according to Connecticut State Police. Paramedics transported him to Day Kimball Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A 22-year-old Connecticut man was arrested this week after a baby girl he lived with was taken to the hospital with 58 rib fractures, bleeding on her brain, and a traumatic brain injury that could cause major impairments for the rest of her life, authorities said. Zachary Beausoleil, of Pomfret in Windham County, is charged with risk of injury to a minor, Connecticut State Police said. A woman is accused of chasing and threatening bystanders with a knife during an attempted shoplifting at a Connecticut Walmart store. In Windham County, Contessa Vayo, age 34, of Brooklyn, was arrested on suspicion of threatening and related charges outside the Putnam Walmart on School Street on Friday afternoon, July 29.
