Sacred Heart University Staffer From Seymour Busted On Attempted Child Sex Charges: Police
A Sacred Heart University Athletics Department staff member has been suspended after being arrested on felony sex charges involving attempted sexual assault of a minor, authorities said.
Matthew Janik, 39, of Seymour, who served as an associate director of athletic communications, faces a series of serious accusations, including enticing a minor by computer, attempted second-degree sexual assault, attempted illegal sexual contact, and attempted commercial sex abuse of a minor, Bloomfield Police said.
Court records reveal that Janik was being held on $250,000 bail.

Some people attending SantaCon 2024 in Hoboken, including several from out of state, couldn't help but end up on the naughty list.
Hoboken police said eight people were arrested at the annual event on Saturday, Dec. 21, where people dress up as Santa Claus for a bar crawl, a spinoff of the popular event held every year in New York City (scroll down for details).
Overall, police issued 16 traffic summonses, dealt with 13 fights, and responded to three motor vehicle crashes, police said. Last year saw only two arrests.

CT Teen Attacked Friend At His Home, Stole $3K: Police
A 19-year-old Connecticut man is accused of robbing his friend of $3,000 while visiting the friend's home earlier this week, authorities said.
Boston Leger, 19, of Norwalk, was arrested and charged with first-degree robbery and third-degree assault, police said.
A friend of Leger's said the teen came to his home on Wednesday, Dec. 4, and a fight broke out, Norwalk police said. The man said Leger stole $3,000 in cash and left.
Detectives arrested Leger at his home without incident. He was being held on a $30,000 bond, authorities said.
Leger is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 15.
Man Accused of Brutal Attack At CT Home That Left Victim Unconscious, Hospitalized
A 21-year-old man faces multiple charges after allegedly attacking a Connecticut acquaintance in a violent assault that left the victim unconscious and bleeding, according to Darien police.
Maodo Malick Ndiaye, of New York, was arrested and charged with second-degree assault, disorderly conduct, and strangulation/suffocation, police said.
Officers responded to Scofield Farms Road in Darien shortly after 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 30. The victim reported that Ndiaye had fled the scene on a bicycle toward Allwood Road.
