A Connecticut man will spend decades behind bars for a deadly shooting that left one person dead and another seriously hurt in a New Haven neighborhood.
Treyvon Battle, 35, of Hamden, was sentenced to serve 80 years in prison on Wednesday, April 22, the Connecticut Division of Criminal Justice said.
A jury found Battle guilty of murder, first-degree assault, criminal possession of a firearm, and carrying a pistol without a permit in January.
The charges stem from a shooting that happened on May 27, 2017, on Dickerman Street in New Haven.

A Waterbury woman known as “Thunder” is accused of leading a stolen check and bank fraud scheme that targeted small businesses across Connecticut, federal officials said.
Michelle Freeman, 37, of Waterbury, along with Leshanda Long, 43, of Hamden, and Omar Eaddy, 40, of Bridgeport, have been indicted on charges of conspiracy to commit bank fraud. Each faces up to 30 years in prison if convicted.

Suicidal CT Man Who Wanted Police To 'Kill Him,' Injures Officers During Arrest, Cops Say
A Connecticut man who was allegedly suicidal and wanted to be killed by police was taken into custody after fighting and injuring several officers.
The incident occurred in New Haven County in Hamden on Wednesday, Aug. 7, at the Hamden Plaza.
According to Lt. Raymond Quinn of the Hamden Police, the department received word that the East Haven Police were trying to locate and arrest Derrick Gilliam, age 29, of New Haven.
East Haven police said that Gilliam, who was wanted on domestic violence charges, was suicidal and "wanted to be killed by police," Quinn said.
