Authorities have released more information on a violent attack in a city park that ended with a Good Samaritan stepping in and being slashed across the chest with a box cutter.
Joseph Cupe, 62, of Bristol, is charged with first-degree assault, second-degree breach of peace, and first-degree reckless endangerment in connection with the Wednesday, April 1, incident at Brackett Park in Bristol, according to a police report.

Man Gunned Down Outside CT Store Just Days Before 30th Birthday
A 29-year-old man has been identified as the person shot and killed outside a neighborhood bodega in Waterbury earlier this week. He would have turned 30 on Friday.
Frank Garay, of Hartford, was shot around 7:45 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 15, on Charles Street, Waterbury police said.
Police are still searching for the shooter.

The US State Department has issued updated travel guidance for one of America’s closest neighbors, citing a mix of safety risks for visitors.
