Fire Guts Family Of 5's Home In CT; Cause Under Investigation The Red Cross is helping a Connecticut family of five who lost their home in a two-alarm blaze this weekend, authorities said.  The fire began just before 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 17, on Country Hills Road in Hamden.  Related: Fire Destroys Historic Golf Course In Fairfield County Firefighters arrived to find both floors of the home engulfed in flames. Firefighter Hurt, Family Left Homeless After CT Blaze Connecticut fire investigators are looking into what sparked a house fire that left a family of five homeless and a firefighter injured.  The blaze began in Fairfield County around 8:20 p.m. at a house in the 40 block of Alpine Street in Bridgeport, authorities said.  Firefighters battled the flames for hours before they got it under control.
