A man wanted for financial crimes in New York was arrested after a tense three-hour standoff with Stamford police at a downtown apartment building, authorities said. Jerry Genesis, 34, barricaded himself inside The Urby apartments on Greyrock Place after officers arrived to serve a warrant. When they knocked on the door, Genesis “slammed the door in their faces and refused to come out,” according to police. 2 CT Kids Rushed To Hospital After Car Strike
Two children were struck by a car in Waterbury, Connecticut, this week and hospitalized, but doctors say both are expected to recover. The crash happened around 8:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18, near Sylvan Avenue and Keefe Street, according to police. Both children were walking when a car hit them, Waterbury police said. They suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The driver stayed at the scene and was not hurt, paramedics said.

Nearly 100 headstones and monuments at St. Patrick’s Cemetery were toppled, cracked, and gouged in a sweeping act of vandalism that police believe involved more than one suspect. Meriden police said they were called Tuesday morning, Aug. 12, to the cemetery at 94 Wall Street after several residents reported “significant vandalism and damage” to graves.
