A Montgomery County man who pointed a loaded gun at a police officer while recording himself on Instagram—captioning the video “Should I smoke em”—has learned his punishment, prosecutors announced. William Alvarenga, 21, of Gaithersburg, will serve five years in prison as part of a 33-year sentence, with all but five years suspended. A Connecticut delivery driver’s routine evening turned into a terrifying ordeal when they were carjacked at gunpoint, authorities said. The carjacking happened around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21, in the 200 block of Woodrow Ave. in Fairfield’s Southport neighborhood. An early morning shooting in New Haven sent four people to the hospital and left one woman clinging to life, authorities said. New Haven police responded to the 800 block of Chapel Street around 2 a.m. Friday, Nov. 1, after 911 callers reported multiple gunshots, detectives said. The Connecticut Office of Inspector General released its preliminary findings in a fatal officer-involved shooting last week and found that the suspect fired at police first. Jebrell Conley, 36, was shot and killed on Thursday, Sept. 19, at a West Haven car wash on Boston Road.
