Heyward Curry, of Bridgeport in Fairfield County, was found guilty on Wednesday, Nov. 6, of three counts each of sexual assault in the first degree and risk of injury to a minor, the Connecticut Division of Criminal Justice said.
Curry faces up to 165 years in prison when he is sentenced on Jan. 13, 2025.
Authorities said Curry sexually abused an 8-year-old boy for months in the summer of 2014. The child did not disclose the abuse until he was 12.
“This office is committed to protecting the youngest and most vulnerable among us from abuse that steals their innocence and causes life-changing trauma,” said State’s Attorney Joseph Corradino.
The jury deliberated for a day before finding Curry guilty of the charges.
