New Haven police responded to the 800 block of Chapel Street around 2 a.m. Friday, Nov. 1, after 911 callers reported multiple gunshots, detectives said. Officers found a 22-year-old from Hampden suffering from a bullet wound at the scene.

Witnesses flagged down multiple officers as they rushed to the scene to take them to a second victim, a 19-year-old West Haven woman, splayed out on the asphalt on Church Street by Center Street, New Haven Police said. She was unresponsive.

While police were tending to the woman before paramedics arrived, witnesses told officers that a 21-year-old man from Hamden had also been shot nearby on Church Street.

A fourth victim, a 19-year-old New Haven man, drove himself to Yale New Haven Hospital.

Authorities said the three men's injuries were all not-life-threatening. However, the woman remains in critical condition Friday afternoon, Nov. 1, at Yale New Haven Hospital. Police did not release their names.

Officers said they found a gun at the scene and other ballistic evidence.
