Volunteer's Face 'Savagely Mauled,' North Haven Shelter Says It Will Not Euthanize Dog A volunteer at a Connecticut animal shelter was "savagely mauled" in the face by a dog named Sarge earlier this week, but leaders do not plan to put the animal down. However, they are looking to find it a new home.  The Animal Haven in North Haven announced that one of its volunteers was attacked on Thursday, March 5, requiring reconstructive surgery, with several more planned, the shelter said in a Facebook post. Rabid Coyote Attacks Wallingford Worker; Officials Urge Caution A coyote that attacked a worker earlier this week in Connecticut has tested positive for rabies, state officials confirmed.  The animal bit a United Concrete employee as he arrived at work on Main Street in Wallingford on Tuesday, Dec. 3, around 6:30 a.m. Other workers at the facility said the animal had tried to attack others, per WTNH.
