Officers were called to St. Mary’s Hospital early just after 5:15 a.m. on Thursday, March 27, after a man told police his friend had been shot. The victim, a 37-year-old Waterbury man, had been hit in the face but survived. Police say he was later released from the hospital.
The investigation led officers to a crime scene at 96 Charles Street in Waterbury. Detectives identified the suspected shooter as Tyrelle Hudson, 30, of Waterbury.
Police say Hudson and the victim knew each other.
Waterbury detectives, with Southington police officers, found Hudson at a hotel in Southington on Friday, April 4. He was arrested without incident.
Authorities charged Hudson with criminal possession of a firearm, illegal discharge of a firearm, reckless endangerment, assault, and criminal attempt to murder, Waterbury police said.
Hudson was being held on a $1 million bond. Police say he is a convicted felon and isn’t legally allowed to have guns or ammunition.
