Rebecca Johnson, 39, was taken into custody after police responded to reports of a vehicle blocking traffic on the Exit 50 off-ramp on Route 8 in Torrington just after 7 p.m. Monday, March 3, Connecticut State Police said.
Troopers arrived to find the Torrington woman slumped over in the driver’s seat of a still-running Toyota Yaris. The car remained in drive, police said.
After a few moments, a trooper was able to wake Johnson, but she showed signs of intoxication and failed a field sobriety test, police said.
Johnson was arrested, and a search of her vehicle uncovered eight bags of suspected narcotics under the passenger seat, police said. She faces charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, improper parking on a highway, and possession of a controlled substance.
Johnson was later released on a $2,500 bond, authorities said.
