Gilgo Beach Murders: New Type Of DNA Evidence Permitted In Rex Heuermann Trial
A new form of DNA evidence can be used in the upcoming trial of accused Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex Heuermann, a Long Island judge ruled. The decision, filed Wednesday, Sept. 3, in Suffolk County Supreme Court, permits prosecutors to introduce nuclear DNA profiles generated from rootless hairs recovered at several crime scenes. Justice Timothy Mazzei found that the method, which relies on whole genome sequencing and specialized computer software to extract nuclear DNA from even degraded or rootless hairs, is generally accepted in the scientific community and therefore admissible in court.…

A West Virginia college student who claimed to be a serial killer allegedly stalked his Pennsylvania neighbor and threatened to dismember her, authorities announced on Saturday, March 15. Dylan Bish, 19, was arrested on Wednesday, March 13, after a months-long investigation into disturbing threats made against a woman in the 3300 block of 3rd Avenue in Koppel, Beaver County police said. New details are shedding light on the lengths that accused Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex Heuermann went to in hopes of getting away with his alleged murder spree. The 60-year-old Long Island resident, of Massapequa Park, was arraigned on two more charges of second-degree murder in Suffolk County Court on Thursday, June 6, in the killings of Jessica Taylor and Sandra Costilla.
