A construction milling machine caught on fire Wednesday, Nov. 20, sending Norwalk firefighters rushing to the scene to mitigate any potential spread. Firefighters were called to the construction equipment fire on Betmarlea Road around 3 p.m. The blaze, which produced thick smoke in the residential area, was contained without any injuries reported. Fire Guts Family Of 5's Home In Hamden
The Red Cross is helping a Connecticut family of five who lost their home in a two-alarm blaze this weekend, authorities said. The fire began just before 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 17, on Country Hills Road in Hamden. Firefighters Battle Blaze At Garage Repair Shop
Firefighters in Fairfield County were able to quickly douse the flames at a garage repair shop on Friday afternoon, Nov. 1. Norwalk firefighters were called to 13 North Taylor Street just before 1:30 p.m. A garage converted into a repair shop near a row of storage units had caught on fire. Crews were able to put out the blaze before it spread or anyone was injured, the fire department said. Authorities are investigating what sparked the blaze.

A Connecticut firefighter who was killed when the ATV he was on rolled over while battling a blaze has been identified as a grandfather and former member of the Hartford Fire Department. Robert "Sharky" Sharkevich Sr., age 66, was working as a member of the Wethersfield Volunteer Fire Department on Tuesday, Oct. 22, fighting a brush fire that had spread to more than 90 acres on Lamentation Mountain in Berlin, Meriden Police said. Firefighters in Connecticut rescued 19 people and a dog from a restaurant that had been quickly flooded after a severe storm ravaged the area. The incident occurred in New Haven County in Oxford at around 5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 18, at the Brookside Inn Restaurant and a nearby residence. Tree Falls, Kills Man In CT During Sudden Storm
A 53-year-old man was killed after a tree fell on him in Connecticut during a sudden thunderstorm. The incident happened in Windham County just after 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26, when a man walking in the area of Union Street and Jackson Avenue in Willimantic was hit by a fallen tree during a storm, according to Willimantic Fire Chief Marc Scrivener.
